Building Confidence and Leadership: Jr. Deputy Program
The Junior Deputy Program is a FREE, 8-week character-building program for Vista youth going into grades 7-11. This program is taught by Vista Sheriff's Deputies in partnership with the City of Vista and is designed to help youth develop leadership skills, confidence, and positive decision-making while learning about careers in public safety!
Throughout the academy, participants will learn about:
- The role of the Sheriff's Office
- Decision-making skills
- Self-awareness
- Conflict resolution
- Discipline, teamwork, friendship, and respect
- Drug, alcohol, and gang prevention
Program participants can expect role-playing exercises, physical training, close-order drills/marching, K-9 and Bomb Squad demonstrations, motivational public safety speakers, and a program t-shirt.
