The Gloria McClellan Senior Center has released its November newsletter, packed with special events, programs, and services for the month ahead. From honoring veterans to holiday shopping and fitness fun, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
Veterans Day Celebration – Monday, Nov. 10, 11:30 am
Join us for a heartfelt salute to our veterans featuring USO-style entertainment by Kai the Oldies Guy. Sing along, dance, and wear your blue suede shoes as we celebrate those who served.
Holiday Craft Fair – Monday, Nov. 17, 1–3 pm
Get into the holiday spirit with complimentary cheer and a wide array of handcrafted items, jewelry, clothing, pet accessories, scarves, ornaments, home décor, and more. It’s the perfect opportunity to shop local and cross off your holiday list.
A Pilgrim’s Thanksgiving – Thursday, Nov. 20, 11 am
Travel back in time with this special Culinary Adventure celebrating the first Thanksgiving. Enjoy a documentary on the rebuilding of the Mayflower II, followed by a traditional-style lunch at noon. Reservations are required.
Stay Active and Engaged
Zumba Gold, Chair Yoga, and Tai Chi are offered throughout the month—great ways to boost heart health, strength, balance, and mental well-being.
Congregate Lunch Service
Nutritious lunches are served weekdays at noon for adults 60 and older ($4 suggested contribution). Reservations are required at least one business day in advance by 1 p.m. Call 760-643-5288 or stop by the lunch desk to reserve your spot.
Transportation Programs
The Out & About program provides grocery shopping shuttles on Mondays and Wednesdays, and in-town medical transportation Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. Call 760-643-5284 at least three working days in advance to schedule.
Cyber-Seniors Tech Classes
Free technology classes are offered on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays at 1 p.m. Learn how to use your smartphone, explore local apps, and stay safe online. Classes meet in the Computer Room in the Azalea Building.
