Vista Fire Rescue offers free smoke alarm installations and in-home fire safety education to Vista’s most at-risk residents, including:

• Older adults

• Individuals with limited financial resources

• Residents in older or high-risk housing

Why It Matters
More than half of U.S. home fire deaths occur in homes without working smoke alarms. You may have as little as 2 minutes to escape once a fire starts.

Safety Tips

• Install alarms in each bedroom, outside sleeping areas, and on every level.

• Replace alarms every 10 years and test monthly.

• Replace batteries regularly.

• Avoid placing alarms near kitchens or fireplaces to prevent false alarms.
