The Vista Sheriff’s Station, in partnership with the City of Vista, is now accepting applications for the Fall 2025 Junior Deputy Academy. This free, 8-week program is open to Vista youth ages 13–16 and is designed to build character, leadership skills, and a greater understanding of the Sheriff’s Office and its role in the community.
Through a combination of role-playing, physical training, and interactive lessons, participants will learn valuable life skills including discipline, self-awareness, decision-making, and conflict resolution. The program also addresses current substance abuse trends among youth, giving participants and their families tools for open communication and informed choices. Guest speakers from various public safety and law enforcement divisions throughout the county will provide insight into a wide range of public service careers.
Sessions take place on Wednesdays from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Linda Rhoades Center, 600 N. Santa Fe Avenue, from August 20 through October 8, 2025. Space is limited and open only to Vista residents.
