The City Council will discuss the future of the Wave Waterpark at its next meeting on August 12. At a previous meeting on February 11, the council requested more information on future maintenance costs of the facility, and further information on staff recommended options:
- Option 1: Improve/Restore the Wave Waterpark with a Phased Approach;
- Option 2: Repurpose the Wave Waterpark;
- Option 3: Lease Property to a Private Owner.
City Council meetings are held at the Vista Civic Center, 200 Civic Center Drive, second floor, at 5:30 p.m.
How to participate:
- See agenda for instructions on watching the meeting live on YouTube, or participate via Zoom or in person. (Current Agenda & Staff Reports - these will be posted by August 7).
- To submit a comment in writing, email PublicComments@cityofvista.com and write “Wave Waterpark” in the subject line.
- Comments will also be accepted by leaving a message at 760.643.2815. Please include your name and the spelling, as well as the item number or title of the item you wish to speak about.
- All comments received by 2:00 pm on August 12 will be emailed (voice messages will be summarized) to the City Council members and included as an “Add to Packet” on the City’s website prior to the meeting. Please note, comments will not be read at the meeting.
- In-Person Public Comment (Speaking to Council): To speak directly to the council, complete a Request to Speak card at the meeting. Indicate “Wave Waterpark” on the card. Groups wishing to speak in a particular order should submit numbered cards together. Speakers are allotted three minutes and may speak only once per item, addressing the council directly from the podium. A light system will indicate remaining time.
